About the Film

This past summer Unusual Films began work on a new feature length film, our first new feature in several years. The original screen play was written by Dr. David Burke of the university’s Speech Communication faculty, and is set in a mill town in upstate South Carolina in the 1920’s.

The story revolves around a young man’s determination to become a professional baseball player, and follows his rise to prominence in the mill baseball leagues. The story is fictional, but will feature authentic recreations of mill baseball culture in the late 1920’s.

Unusual Films is the name of the film production unit of Bob Jones University.  The studio began operation in 1950, with the clear goal of producing high quality films that will present the Christian message in a clear and Christ honoring way.  Previous feature length releases include Flame in the Wind, Sheffey and The Printing.
